When you need to mail documents, posters, paintings, or any other item that can be rolled into a tube, you should use a cardboard tube instead of an envelope. This is especially important when you would otherwise need to fold the item to make it fit into the envelope. There are a number of options you have when shopping for the tube so do not just pick the first one you see. When you are buying for a business and will be using shipping tubes a lot, you may need to buy different sizes and types. Here are a few options to consider.

Branding

One of the first things you will want to consider when it comes to cardboard mailing tubes for your business is having your name and logo put on them. Generally, this is going to increase the price of the tubes. However, if you are able to order them in a large enough quantity it may not cost more than buying a few at a time without the branding. In addition, the name exposure you receive when your logo is on the tubes will increase sales, making any additional cost worth it.

Color

You do not have to go with a plain, brown cardboard for the tubes. You may want to go with multiple colors for different types of items being shipped. This will help keep track of things in the warehouse and allow you to package things in advance. Pickers can go in, grab the color tube that contains the product needed, slap on a shipping label, and get it to the mail pickup spot.

Closure

If you are looking to save money, you can go with a crimped end that is taped over before shipping. When you want a bit more security, you can choose between plastic or metal caps. Of course, these will need to be taped or glued in place before shipping as well.

Shape

Just because you plan on rolling the item to be shipped does not always mean the container should be round. Sometimes it may be better to go with a square one. This will allow you to put extra padding inside the container, around the product. It is also a bit harder to crush during shipping.

Contact a company that manufactures cardboard mailing tubes and explain what it is you will be shipping. They can send you samples of what they have that will fit your needs. Try sending a few items to yourself to see how well they fare and then make up your mind as to what you want and need.
